Apps Apps Apps - December 2020

Adding the right applications to your business can streamline operations, create efficient processes, and save you time and money.  But where to start?  There are 1,000’s of applications out there, many solving the same or similar issues.  Each month, we research, trial, and review dozens of applications; constantly searching for the ideal solutions for our clients.  We have an internal rule that any application we recommend must solve at least three problems.

Each month, members of the MATAX team pick their favorite of the month.  Here are the selections for December 2020.

Dan’s Pick:

MATAX integrates A2X for Amazon and Shopify

A2X is a powerful accounting integration for an e-commerce business to have in their toolbox. For sellers on Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, and eBay - A2X automatically posts all sales data to the accounting platform and makes reconciliation a breeze. No longer are manual entries needed to record details for sales, shipping revenue, refunds, discounts, and complex merchant fee structures.

A2X also offers an easy automated solution for e-commerce businesses to record cost of goods sold from inventory in real-time per payout. This feature is best suited for businesses that sell a small variation of items with consistent costs per item. The more advanced your inventory structure is, the better a specialized inventory integration will be such as Skubana or Locate.

A2X helps you by:

  • Saving time via automatic entries

  • Improving data granularity with postings by payout and date (as opposed to monthly or weekly sales summaries)

  • Eliminating human error by integrating the accounting platform right to your sales channels

Cost: $19.99/mo - $149.99/mo

Julie’s Pick:

MATAX integrates Veem bill pay with Xero

Veem  - Veem is ideal for businesses that often pay internationally.  It’s easy to use with very little to no cost.  Their support team is also very responsive.

  • Saves money. Most banks charge substantial fees for international wires. Veem has no monthly subscription or transaction fees for making international payments in local currency (with competitive int’l exchange rates).

  • Businesses can also pay their US domestic payments via ACH (only $1.00 per transaction) so there is no need to pay those through a different system.

  • Saves time. Veem works in more than 60 countries and processes payments much faster than banks.

  • Streamlines process. There is multi-level approvals and payments sync to Xero and other accounting software for the automatic reconciliation of payments.

Cost: $0 for most transactions

Dawn’s Pick:

Mmhmm for Zoom video conferencing

mmhmm - Stand alone or paired with Zoom, takes virtual meetings from the humdrum to highly engaging

Lasers, moving backgrounds, disappearing hosts, and interactive recordings.  mmhmm breaks free from the boring sterile virtual meeting to create a memorable (oh yah, and PRODUCTIVE) meeting experience.

  • Up and running in less than 1 minute

  • Display slides, pdfs, and docs behind or beside you for co-presentation.

  • Co-pilot mode for dual presentation (no switching back and forth)

  • Keep folks engaged with the topic

  • Integrates seamlessly with Zoom

Cost: $9.99/mo or $99.99/year

Cheng’s Pick:

  • Has a flexible approval chain configuration that allows multi-level approval chains, expense-based approver assignment, or monetary approval level.

  • Basic accounting and integration to Xero and QB products. Has 2 other pricing tiers with integration with other more robust accounting apps. (Sage, Oracle, QB + Bill.com)
